GEORGE MATILPI
Born in Alert Bay, B.C. George is a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw and Dakelh Nation. He bagan carving at 14, coming from a large family of artists and carvers. He was taught by his half-brother Lloyd Wadhams and his cousin Ned Matilpi, as well as Chief Amos Dawson. George currently takes the time to teach the next generation of carvers to continue his culture and heritage, along with carving full time.
