Hello hello! We are looking for someone to join our home May 1st.
The details:
• Rent is $821 (includes utilities, internet, etc).
• Preferably long-term
• Location: Kerrisdale (close to W 37th and Mackenzie St). The neighborhood is super nice and peaceful, bus stops close by: 2, R4, 41, 7.
• Friendly, community-minded housemates
• Shared groceries, meals & fun :)
How we live:
• Shared groceries: Includes vegetables, bread, rice, eggs, meat, cereal, fruits, and most of what you’d need for the week. We discuss what to include in the grocery list and how much to spend together, currently the cost is about $200 monthly each. It’s also ok to buy extra items for yourself and label them :)
• Shared meals: Each week from Monday to Thursday, 1 or 2 housemates cook for the house, and whoever's home and feels like joining eats together. Usually most of us are home for dinner and it’s a fun time, but it’s not required and we save food for those eating later.
• Rotating chores: Each housemate is assigned one weekly chore, such as cleaning an area of the house, taking out trash, fridge clean-up, or doing groceries (this one is done in pairs, so each housemate does groceries about once a month together with one other housemate).
• The vibe of the house is social and relaxed. We all get along and share time together often, but also respect each other’s alone time and different schedules. Housemates' interests include music, art, horses, theatre, social activism, dancing, snowboarding, gardening, and many more.
The house and room: see photos!
• Spacious kitchen + dining room
• Living room with piano, projector and musical instruments
• Backyard with bbq, pizza oven and fire pit + Front yard. Lots of space for gardening! Both are great for hanging out and get a lot of sun.
• Big extra room for guests, yoga, sometimes we also host music jams here
• Your room: Medium-sized, with a big window facing the backyard. Comfortably fits a queen/king bed, desk, bookshelf or other extra furniture, and has a built-in closet.
We are looking for someone:
• Easygoing and community-minded, who would enjoy the shared aspects of the house
• Used to clean up after themselves (e.g. cleaning dishes, counters soon after cooking/ eating) and contribute to household chores
• Enjoys cooking and likes the idea of making dinner for the house once a week
• Wants to integrate into the house and be social with housemates and guests
If you think you’d be a good fit send us a message! Please include a bit about yourself, what you liked about the house, and whether you are interested in a short or long-term stay.
