Kismet Design is a growing design studio that creates and sells thoughtfully made lamps and furniture. We’re a small, hands-on team of 5, and we’re looking for our 6th team member to join us and help the studio grow 🚀
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys staying organized, working with their hands, and communicating clearly with people — and who wants to grow into more responsibility over time.

🔧 The Role
You’ll take ownership of shipping, packaging, and customer communication, with opportunities to expand into production planning and studio operations.
How your time will roughly break down:
• 📦 50% — Packaging and shipping orders
• 💬 35% — Customer service (email, phone, in person)
• 🗂 15% — Project coordination & production planning
• 🛠 Occasional — Assisting with light manufacturing (lamp assembly, lampshades)

✅ What You’ll Be Responsible For
📦 Shipping & Packaging
• Carefully package orders and ensure accuracy
• Perform quality checks before shipping
• 🔌 Test electrical cords prior to shipment
• Create packing lists and prepare labels
• Use ClickShip to generate shipping labels
• 🚚 Schedule daily courier pickups
• Handle returns, replacements, and reships
• Communicate with UPS to resolve duties or shipping issues
💬 Customer Service
• Respond to customer emails and inquiries
• Reassure customers and resolve issues clearly and kindly
• 📅 Coordinate delayed or special-date shipments
• Manage returns and replacement requests
• Keep clear notes on all customer communication
🗂 Organization & Project Management
• Maintain order and customer records in Notion
• Track orders that need special attention or priority shipping
• Update databases with notes, requirements, and status changes
• Follow a daily routine for emails, shipping, and follow-ups

💰 Pay & Growth
$20–$26 per hour (DOE)
DOE = Depending on Experience.
Where you start in the range depends on:
• Previous experience with shipping, packing, or fulfillment
• Comfort communicating with customers via email and phone
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Organization and ability to manage tasks without constant supervision
Most team members who take ownership and grow in the role move up the pay range over time.
We do regular check-ins and reviews, and raises are based on responsibility, reliability, and initiative, not time served.
