The Shells:
These are 100% Japanese Birch. The interiors are notably light and clean, with a tight grain that visually resembles Maple but retains the high-end "EQ'd" punch Birch is famous for. This is a pro-level shell pack that offers a level of resonance you won't find in modern mid-tier kits.
Hardware & Production Specs:
• Black Star-Cast Mounts: This kit features the original black aluminum suspension mounts. These were a hallmark of the era, designed to be lighter and more resonant than the chrome-plated steel versions found on later models.
• Die-Cast Hoops: Professional-grade zinc hoops on all toms, providing superior tuning stability and a sharp, clear attack.
• 8-Lug Bass Drum: The classic Japanese Performer configuration that balances shell resonance with punchy low-end.
• Comparison: While TAMA’s modern Walnut/Birch kits are popular, many players prefer these "Golden Era" MIJ shells for their pure wood tone and legendary Japanese build quality.
Condition:
• Shells & Hardware: Overall in very good, well-preserved condition. Lacquer and chrome are clean.
• Bass Drum Head: Please note the front/resonant bass drum head has some visible damage. The drum shell itself is unaffected, but you may want to swap the head eventually for aesthetic or acoustic preference.
