Is your elementary or middle school child struggling at school? I am a BC-certified teacher and science communicator with over three decades of experience. I specialize in making learning hands-on and enjoyable. I usually teach reading, writing, mathematics, basic coding, STEAM projects, and science, but I can teach other subjects when needed.
It is worth mentioning that I have extensive experience with neurodivergent students and am neurodivergent myself, so I find it easy to relate to and know the needs of most students.
I live in River District (in the south east end side of Vancouver). I teach in students' homes and public settings, but am willing to travel to other municipalities. If it is far enough away, I will need to adjust the cost due to time spent traveling to your location. Alternatively I am willing and able to teach online and can even teach in virtual reality.
What I offer - individual lessons tailored to meet your child's educational needs and when possible, their interests as well. I often create games and activities to develop the specific skills the student is working on. I do not use workbooks, worksheets* (*unless I know the student learns well from these), or AI-generated materials. I also typically have a science activity or two prepared so that I can give the student a brief educational "science break" to offer an interesting science challenge partway through the lesson. With some clients I also teach outdoor education or combine outdoor ed with goals like getting exercise.
