If you love the electric guitar and the sound of distortion, then these lesson are for you.
Any level of playing is fine, and remember - you're never too old. We see where you're at and take it from there.
I understand that playing guitar and teaching someone to play are similar but two different things at the same time, and still remember what it was like just starting out and trying to learn.
I'm a teacher who:
- takes time to understand your goals and interests
- creates a positive and non-judgemental learning environment
- recognizes the emotional and personal benefits of playing music
- relates to the student, and understands what motivates them
From teaching you: strumming, riffs, guitar solos and full songs; to showing you the theory and the technique behind it all, so that you gain confidence and also become capable of writing your own music (if you're aspiring to do so); also, how to improvise.
I've been playing for over 31 years and teaching guitar for over 20 years. Played in bands and have been consistently writing, recording and performing music.
Grew up playing rock/punk rock/metal/alternative music of the 80's and 90's and many of its sub-genres. And then later learned a lot of the guitar music from the 60's and 70's...
Some of my early influences are Guns'N'Roses, Nirvana, Metallica, The Ramones.
I also love AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Queen, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cult, and many others.
I really appreciate the music and the guitar playing of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, and many others.
Some of my favourite guitar players are Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Angus Young, Billy Gibbons, Brian May, Joe Perry, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Mark Knopfler, Richie Blackmore, Carlos Santana, Marty Friedman... you get the picture.
I'm here to help you reach your guitar playing goals.
