We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Building Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day operations of a residential apartment building in Vancouver. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment for residents. The ideal candidate is responsive, detail-oriented, and experienced in general building maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs in residential units and common areas
• Address tenant maintenance requests (e.g., plumbing issues, appliance repairs, minor electrical work)
• Interior and exterior painting
• Prepare apartments for tenant turnover
• Conduct regular inspections of the property and building systems (e.g., plumbing, lighting, laundry, and fire safety equipment)
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of hallways, lobbies, parking areas, and exterior grounds
• Perform seasonal tasks such as salting walkways, basic landscaping and lawn-care
• Coordinate and oversee external contractors when required
• Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and building codes
• Maintain logs of maintenance work and report major issues to property management
• Be available for after-hours emergencies
Qualifications
• Previous experience in residential building maintenance or a similar role
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair work
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills with a customer-service mindset for interacting with tenants
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, and performing manual work
• Valid BC Driver's License (vehicle not required)
Preferred Qualifications
• Trade certification or relevant training (an asset but not required)
• Experience working in multi-unit residential buildings
• Basic knowledge of building systems common in Canadian residential properties
• Candidates who reside within a reasonable response time of the property, or interested in living on-site, to support after-hours emergency response and operational needs
