We are looking for an engaging and experienced math tutor to work with a bright 10-year-old student currently at a Grade 4/5 math level.
Goal:
Support and accelerate learning from a “developing” to “extending” level by the end of summer, with a strong focus on building confidence, clarity, and enjoyment of math.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience teaching elementary math (Grade 4–5 level)
• Experience working with children with dyslexia and ADHD
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to support different learning styles and attention needs
• A creative, engaging approach (hands-on learning, visual strategies, games, real-world applications)
• Patient, encouraging, and confidence-building teaching style
• Strong communication skills
• Proven track record (references required)
Logistics:
• Location: In-person at our home on UBC campus (Vancouver)
• Schedule:
• Wednesdays (early evening)
• Sundays (daytime)
• Optional virtual sessions as needed
Nice to Have:
• Background in education, special education, or child development
• Experience helping students move from “developing” to advanced/“extending” performance
• Familiarity with BC curriculum
