Fancy vintage shabby glass compote in metallic blue candy jar for $45.
This handmade iridescent glassware dates back to the 1910’s and was called Carnival Glass because some of the glass popular at the time was used as prizes at traveling carnival games. First popularized by Harry Northwood, noted glassmaker of the period, only to be out produced and out marketed by Imperial Glass. It was Imperial who offered the widest variety of patterns, pieces and colors. The hand pressed or pipe blown glass went through a firing process that permanently attached the non-toxic, colorful iridescence so popular with collectors even today.
The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or loss of iridescent colors. The compote measures 20cm high and 21.5cm diameter across at the bowl opening, 10.5cm diameter at the base.
What is old is new again and these vintage style shabby chic compote is no exception. Use as stemware for candy holder, fruit holder center piece or as a vase for wildflowers for a truly distinctive look. Use the pretty colour together or on its own to complement your decor.
