Dawn's Promise, (current name) is currently on the hard at Jack's Boat Yard in Lund, BC where it is in need of soda blasting services to clean, epoxy, and bottom paint the hull before going back into the water. The topsides could benefit from a coat of paint as well.
The boat' key features:
• Gazelles have a great international reputation as blue-water cruisers. This boat is rigged as a junk-rigged schooner.
• This is a good-looking boat with beautiful lines. Dawn's Promise was featured on the cover of the Courtenay Real Estate
Magazine several years ago while at anchor in the Courtenay harbor.
• The interior living space extends for the full length of the boat's 41 feet, which greatly improves her live-aboard potential.
• Brent Swain converted the Dawn's Promise to a pilot house design by raising the deck between the aft cabin and the salon by 2
feet, which opened up the entire boat. While carrying out this modification, the original marine ply cabin top was completely
replaced. Aluminum was used on both to reduce topside weight.
• The hull is insulated with foam, and the interior ceiling and topsides have been lined with painted plywood.
• The interior includes 3 double berths: a V-berth (presently used as storage) an athwart double berth in the stern, and a double in
the salon. The salon berth has a vinyl covered mattress.
• A 50-horsepower Yammer powers the boat. It has less than 2400 hours of operating time and has been serviced recently.
• The onboard and starting batteries are new.
• The bottom is solidly built of Corten Steel that includes a keel bottom with 1/2" Keel sides, 1/4"' bottom 3/16" sides and
gunwales of 1/8".
• An upgrade of the bow Cutwater needs to be addressed.
• The boat interior and bilge was dry before being hoisted out at Jack's.
• The standing rigging is in good condition. The masts are designed to be raised or lowered as required.
• The boat has stern dinghy davits, a manual anchor, and steel life lines, which stand at hip height for safely and that blend in
with the boat's lines.
• The bollards are welded to the deck and hull towards the stern to provide secure, non-leaking attachment points for a sea anchor
while underway.
• The head has Nature Head toilet installed
• A steel homemade fireplace is installed which is great for burning driftwood (Could be replaced with Dickons diesel heater for
insurance purposes), The ducting is in place throughout the boat to distribute the air from a new furnace, plus it is already
plumbed into the boat's 50-gallon fuel tank.
• A unique multi-function table in the pilot house, 6 feet long by 30" deep athwart the boat just ahead of the stern bunk. Provides
plenty of room for use as a chart table, a hobby table or a work table.
• A stainless steel folding down boarding ladder located on the starboard side.
• 20 gallon plastic water storage tank
• The boat drafts approximately 4 feet
