Who are we?
Groundswell is Vancouver's only alternative business school, creating social enterprises, small businesses, and self-employment with people who want to take their future into their own hands and put their work in line with their values. Groundswell is a registered non-profit society.
More and more people are juggling part-time jobs, contracting, freelancing, or managing a side gig in a changing economy where permanent full-time jobs are a thing of the past. By 2020, over 50% of British Columbians will be independent workers (self-employed) [Ref: Deloitte and Human Resources Professionals Association, The Intelligence Revolution: Futureproofing Canada's Workforce, 2017].
Are you ready?
Groundswell has been supporting people to start small business and become sustainably self-employed since 2013, with over 150 program members launching over 60 small businesses. They have one thing in common: they want control of their livelihood and they want to make a positive impact.
We offer something that other startup incubators or self-employment programs don't: a commitment to the ongoing power of collaboration and to the power of community and building an authentic ecosystem of people and enterprises that support each other for the long run.
