Very nice 19th century Qing Dynasty Canton Fencai calligraphy brush pen holder. Look at the fine and period technical details.
Hand made and hand painted by master Chinese artisans during the 1840s. This antique brush pot was hand painted in detail of a traditional Han Chinese court scene. Painted butterfly, peach and flower on the top and bottom borders. This symbolizes Feng Shui of love, abundance, fortune, health and longevity. Note the real gold gilt throughout the painting. This is like an actual painting on a porcelain canvas. Note how well the different colours and gold contrast each other.
Hand turned with world renowned Jinderzhen transparent white clay. In fact, the clay body is so translucent, light shines right through it. You can see this in the second last photo that was taken outside. Here is a decorative idea: put a portable LED light inside the brush pot and turn it on during night time and this brush pot will glow like a lantern. Also note the very evident hand turning throw marks on the porcelain body.
This old brush pot is in excellent and original antique condition. There are no cracks, chips or past repairs. Very hard to find a genuine piece in this condition.
If you are interested in 9th C Tang, 10th C Song, 14th C Yuan, 15th C Ming or 20th C Republic antique Chinese porcelain, you would not be disappointed in viewing this ancient treasure. Too many genuine antique Chinese porcelains were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.
