The Finance team at Kasian is looking to bring on a Senior Accountant. This is a great opportunity in a dynamic and flexible environment with ongoing learning opportunities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to recording, reconciling and reporting on a monthly basis.
Adhere to and enforce the policies and procedures for the accounting workflows.
Respond to supplier inquiries as needed; maintain good supplier relations and solve issues.
Reconcile transactions of deposits, outgoing cheques, wire payments, and bank statements in a ledger or computer system.
Perform month-end duties including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements.
Any recurring, accrual and adjusting entries booking
Intercompany transactions reconciliation
Outstanding and abnormal balances monitoring and correcting
Some AP support and assistance as needed (backup for staff absence)
Assist in corresponding with the accountant at the Company’s international office in gathering relevant information and documents to assist the Controller with the accurate preparation of foreign entity financial statements.
Assist with communication with vendors and more complex vendor account reconciliations.
Reconcile various Balance Sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies on monthly basis, including bank reconciliations.
Prepare variance analysis for P&L accounts
Assist the finance management team with annual external audit & review engagement including the preparation of working papers and support Controller on the note disclosure preparation
Facilitate improvements to various internal management reports
Assist with cross training all support staff in Finance department.
Assist with the creation of documentation and ongoing maintenance of standard operating procedures for all significant functions in department
Prepare monthly GST filings, and other provincial tax filings as needed.
Assist the Controller with generating reports as needed
Budget and forecast support and assistance
Supports Controller on ad-hoc analysis and projects as required
Contribute to Finance department and organization special projects as assigned.
CPA designation preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent accredited university required
Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills
Good MS Word skills
Experience using accounting software in a medium to large company environment is an asset
A good comfort level with working with computers and software in general
Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
Diplomatic and tactful when handling confidential information
