Label: Kanrom, Inc. N.Y.
Kanrom was founded by comedian Jackie Cannon (Born 1926, died 1974) and printer Alexander Roman in the late 1950's. Jackie Kannon -who was originally from Windsor, Ontario and the son of a rabbi- owned the Rat-Fink Club in New York and along with Roman was the author and/or publisher of satirical books such as 'Happiness Is A Rat Fink', 'JFK Coloring Book', 'Cartoons For The John', 'Can-A-Rama' and 'Out Of The Mouths Of Babes, The Nude Look In Caption Books'. In 1962 they created a kind of gimmick series of records to give away as a birthday present, or just as a joke. The sleeves were based on the current fad for records for special occasions, but inside there was no vinyl record! Instead of music there was only a round gift card with the sentence: ‘I bought this Album for you as a gift… sorry, I couldn’t afford the record!’. Most sleeves had nude women on the cover, like Goddamn Great Drum Music, Music For Hangovers, Great Piano Pieces and Communist Party Songs.
