The Manahatta Smoothie bike uses what is termed flat FOOT TECHNOLOGY. The crank pedal is no longer below the seat but placed about 9 inches forward (You can see it in the pic). This allows the rider to put their feet flat on the ground, yet when pedalling, the rider is able to stretch their leg completely out. This is a real advantage any time you stop on a bike and need to put your feet down. It is also a more comfortable position for pedalling. Other bike companies can not use this feature, as Townie has a patent on it now.
The Manhattan Smoothie is one of the few Cruisers made that is lightweight aluminum, as most are heavy steel. The lightness of aluminum makes the Townie bike:
1. Extremely easy to pedal
2. Extremely easy to steer and handle as the lightness of the bike makes it very nimble and responsive.
3. Stops very quickly due to its lightweight
4. Will not rust as aluminum does not rust as steel does.
Other companies do not make aluminum cruisers due to the high cost of aluminum and the specialized skill in welding and shaping the frames.
The Manhattan Smoothie features 7 speeds. The bike has a mega low 1st gear(Super low gear) to conquer any hill and a high 7th gear for effortless pedalling on the flats. The bike has a quality Shimano Tourney derailleur that engages the chain precisely, preventing chain wear and noise. With a quality Shimano Derailleur, you will not need to have constant $79 tune-ups.
The bike features a Shimano Revoshift shifter. These are the safest shifters as they allow you to shift gears without ever taking your fingers off the handgrips. The Shimano Revoshift twist shifter also has a wider gripping surface and an internal gear that provides for extremely easy shifting. If you have any mobility issues, you will appreciate the ease of shifting.
One of the nicest features of the comfort bike is the fully adjustable handlebar system. The handlebars are on a pivot system that allows the handlebars to go very low for putting your weight over the front of the bike or very high for cruising while sitting upright. It is extremely comfortable with the handlebars raised, as you can ride sitting upright. If the bars are lowered, the bike can be ridden as a traditional road bike, with the rider's weight focused on the handlebars and the rider bent over the handlebars for less wind resistance. There is about 13 inches of variation.
The seat has a triple layer of foam and is super wide for a very comfortable ride. It is supported on two large rubber balls for the ultimate cushioning. It is extra wide, and it is like sitting on a comfy La-Z-Boy chair!
The Comfort bike has a 17-inch lightweight aluminum frame. with a very long seat post to accommodate a shorter or taller rider. The super-light aluminum frame makes the bike handle incredibly well and also super easy to pedal. If you transport your bike, you will appreciate the lightweight for loading and unloading. Very few Comfort Cruisers have an aluminum frame.
The tires are 26-inch on lightweight aluminum rims for lightness. Aluminum rims are much lighter than regular steel or chrome rims, but also much stronger. The bike also features stainless steel spokes. Stainless steel spokes are more expensive, but they provide the following:
1. They are much stronger than regular steel spokes and often will prevent the wheel from bending if a curb or object is hit.
2.. Stainless steel spokes will never rust. When regular steel spokes rust, the corrosion is at the nipple, and when a wheel needs to be trued, often the rusty spoke will break, resulting in a costly repair
3. The wheels will always sparkle as they will be rust-free.
The light aluminum wheels make pedalling very easy.
The tires are 26-inch balloon-style tires, which provide for a very comfortable ride. They have a very smooth tread that allows for low rolling resistance and a quiet ride.
The bike features ALUMINUM TEKTRO linear-pull V-brakes. They provide superior stopping in wet or dry conditions.
The Comfort bike is also longer than a traditional bike or cruiser. The longer wheelbase results in an incredibly smooth ride with the longer wheelbase. The bike is also more stable when cruising.
The KHS Manhattan Smoothie bike is the ultimate cruiser and will provide a lifetime of enjoyment.
The bike has never been stored outside and has always been in a garage. It has only been ridden a few times and is still as new.

The KHS Manhattan Smoothie is very similar to an Electra TOWNIE, but it has a more adjustable handlebar system for allowing the bike to be custom fit to the rider.
