The HARO bike has an 18-inch lightweight aircraft aluminum frame, with a very long seat post to accommodate a taller rider. The frame has additional reinforcement in key areas and is designed to be ridden in any terrain or in any mountain bike race. The seat has been upgraded to a $59 comfort seat and is comprised of several different layers of foam and gel for a very comfortable ride. It is also covered in a weatherproof covering and is still as new.
The pedal or crank arms are top-quality Shimano aluminum, not plastic painted to look like metal, and the pedals are lightweight aluminum alloy ones that will not crack and wear down as the plastic pedals do.
The 26-inch wheels are double-walled aluminum and super light yet strong. The bike also has all anodized stainless steel spokes, which will never rust. This is important for wheel truing, as ordinary steel spokes rust, and the spokes usually break when trying to adjust or true the wheel.
The Haro has all-terrain 26-inch tires that are wider than traditional mountain bikes, with a flexible sidewall that really cushions the ride. The larger diameter tires make the bike much more stable, whether off-road or on the pavement.
The HARO bike features top-quality ROCK SHOXS. These are top-of-the-line shocks that offer additional travel and will not fade when ridden aggressively offroad. Shocks also protect the bike and the rider. If a pothole or obstacle is hit, the shock absorbs the impact, preventing damage to the wheel. Shocks can protect the rider from being thrown from the bike by absorbing or dampening any impact.
The bike rear derailleur uses a top-quality Shimano DEORE component that has a large bottom sprocket to engage the chain precisely on the rear gear, resulting in instant and quiet shifts. The Shimano DEORE derailleur will keep its tune and not require constant $79 tune-ups.
The bike features 27 gears with a super low 1st gear to conquer any hill and a 27th high gear for effortlessly pedaling on the flats. The bike features Shimano twin lever shifters. The top lever shifts the bike up a gear and the bottom lever shifts the bike down a gear.
The bike has Disc brakes that provide superior stopping in wet or dry conditions. With disc brakes, they will never fade on a long downhill or be compromised by water and mud. Disc brakes also provide the rider with superior control, and the brakes can easily be feathered to provide precise braking without locking up the brakes.
