1974 Original Mixed Media Painting by Gerald V. Lilly "Faded Memories" 12" x 24"
An original mixed media tempera painting on canvas by Gerald V. Lilly b1943
titled "Faded Memories"
Depicted an American landscape of an old farm in Sedalia, Colorado. The city is now a hub for artists drawn by the area's natural beauty and outdoor amenities. Local artists are so prolific that Salida was awarded the state's first-ever Creative District designation in 2012. Art galleries are plentiful downtown.
The scene features an old barn, a windmill and a wooden wagon still in the grass, a white enamelware and metal buckets left outside.
This piece is signed to the lower left corner, Gerald Lilly as well as notes on back of canvas. "Investment Art"
This wonderful painting is presented in the original rustic-style painted country grey/blue wood frame and inner border with a cream linen fillet. Ready to hang.
The artist finishes his paintings with an acrylic varnish which protects the painting and functions like a glass covering but does not impact the color or detail of the artwork. Lilly studied under the famous water colorist Frank M. Hamilton and with teachers Leon Franks, Vernon Kerr, and Harlan Young. Many compare his style to Andrew Wyeth and is known for his beautiful nature paintings. His artworks have appeared in "Decor" magazine. Lilly also went on to be an art instructor for artists such as Betty Matteson Rhodes.
