About the Role
The Shipwright/Millwright Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and structural components. This role combines shipwright and millwright skills with metal fabrication and welding to support equipment reliability, project execution, and operational efficiency. The Shipwright/Millwright Fabricator works closely with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities
• Fabricate, assemble, install, align, and maintain mechanical equipment, machinery, and components
• Perform metal fabrication tasks including cutting, fitting, welding, grinding, and finishing steel, aluminum, and other materials
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
• Install and align pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, shafts, bearings, and related equipment
• Diagnose mechanical issues, perform repairs, and recommend corrective actions
• Conduct precision measurements, levelling, and alignment using appropriate tools
• Coordinate work with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to meet project timelines
• Identify material, tooling, and equipment requirements in advance
• Ensure work meets quality standards, tolerances, and company specifications
• Follow and enforce safe work practices and participate in safety meetings
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
• Complete work documentation, inspections, and reports as required
Qualifications & Experience
• Journeyperson Millwright certification or equivalent experience
• Welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, Stick) considered an asset
• 5+ years of experience in industrial, marine, or manufacturing environments preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
• Solid understanding of occupational health and safety requirements
