Vintage Cottage Ware - Price Kensington

Price and Kensington were formed in about 1961, when the original Price Brothers factory was amalgamated with Kensington Pottery Ltd. The Price Brothers factory had been in existence since about 1896. These pieces, based on the maker's mark on the bottom, are believed to made after 1963.

Two (2) pieces available:

1.) Vintage Cottage Ware Milk Jug - Price Kensington - SOLD

2.) Vintage Cottage Ware Lidded Butter/Cheese Dish - Price & Kensington

This is a very attractive and unusual handpainted pottery rectangular butter/cheese dish from the 'Cottage Ware' range by Price & Kensington.

The dish is moulded and decorated in the form of a small thatched cottage. The front of the cottage has two windows and a door. The reverse has two windows with foliage growing up the wall. There is a small ventilation hole in the chimney. The dish stands on a rectangular plate.

The base is marked with a laurel wreath in which are the words 'PRICE KENSINGTON' and below this are the words 'MADE IN ENGLAND COTTAGE WARE REG. NO. 845007'. In addition, the base is impressed with the words 'MADE IN ENGLAND'.

The butter/cheese dish has a height to the top of the chimney of approximately 4-1/4". The 'cottage' has a length of about 5-1/2" and a width of about 4". The plate measures 5-1/2" x 6-3/4".

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.

Asking $25 for the butter/cheese dish.
