A horse brass is a brass medallion or plaque which was used for the decoration of horse harness gear, especially for shire and parade horses.
Horse brasses became very popular in England between the mid-19th century until their decline alongside the use of the draft horse, but they have now become a collectors item and they make lovely wall hangings and often can be found decorating bar and pub walls.
These sets of three medallions were originally purchased in London England and have a lovely patina reflecting their age. The leather straps are in excellent like new condition. Metal hanging loops are functional.
