Salada Foods NHL Detroit Red Wings 20 Player Coin Set from 1961-62
- This is the original Detroit Red Wings 20 Player Coin Set for 1961/62 released by Salada Foods.
- The complete set consisted of 120 players representing the six teams making up the NHL.
- Each token has a printed paper representation of a player mounted in a plastic disc which on the reverse is embossed, "Shirriff Lushus Jelly & Puddings".
- The 20 tokens or players could then be mounted in the plastic shield representing their team.
- This set comes with original plastic shield for the Detroit Red Wings of 1961 - 1962 with the 20 player coins or tokens. Shield is embossed, "Space Magic, Made in Canada".
- Coins are NOT affixed to the shield with glue or tape but have been in place for many years.
- Shield measures ~9-1/4 inches wide x 11-1/2 inches high x 1/4 inches deep
- Shield has a mounting hole at top for easy display.
- Shield and coins are in "as found" condition and some coins appear to have some dirt or perhaps pudding residue adhering. Shield is in good condition; it is made of lightweight plastic and does have some minor stress fractures along the edges. It is believed that removal of the coins may cause irreparable damage to the shield.
