Concept & Meaning
Sunflower Rainbow was created out of a deep need to express inclusion, belonging, and shared humanity. I chose the sunflower form because of it’s traditionally associated with resilience, warmth, and growth. The rainbow palette allows each color to remain distinct yet connected. Together, they reflect the idea that difference strengthens the whole.
The composition radiates outward from a grounded center, reflecting the idea that inclusion begins at the core and expands through connection, visibility, and acceptance.
Bold black lines act as both structure and protection, holding the colors in place without confining them. The visible brushwork and layered paint emphasize authenticity and process, reinforcing the message that difference, when honored, creates strength rather than fracture. The rainbow palette is not symbolic of division, but it offers a presence of unity.
