Adult Literacy volunteers needed (burnaby)

The Burnaby Neighbourhood House is a volunteer-driven, community based social service agency that provides equal access to programs and services in response to identified community needs. It is a place in the community that provides a warm and welcoming environment for people young and old from diverse backgrounds.
We are currently seeking volunteers 19+ to help with our Community Adult Literacy Program (CALP). This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the life of an adult learner that needs support with their Reading/ Writing. All volunteers must participate in two training sessions scheduled for Nov. 2 & 9. Once trained, volunteers are paired one-on-one with a learner whom they meet once a week for 1-2 hour lessons to support them in their learning. There is ample flexibility around meeting days/times/ places. Volunteers participate in PD events and are recognized for their work.
If you are interested in supporting literacy as a volunteer tutor, please reply to this email, or call us at show contact info . (Do not forget to indicate your email id as well in case you are communicating via email).
