This room is $900 per month to start (various help around the home can reduce rent further).
What you get:
All utilities covered (cable, internet, electricity), in building (free) laundry, possible parking space.
Your room has a refrigerator, desk and an iMac for your use.
Ideal for being close to Edmonds Skytrain, various medical walk in clinics and all manner of shops (food clothes, etc) within a pair of blocks. Edmonds Community Centre and Tommy Douglas Library also walking distance.
The apartment was previously built up for a senior who needed help on her feet. There are bars in the showers, a railing along the main hallway and wear from such mobility aids is visible.
Small gym, rec room w/ small snooker table, sauna all on site.
Very good parks, biking trails and more within a few city blocks from the apartment.
Main shopping, walk in medical and dental clinics and more all within short walking distance.
No smoking cigarettes outdoors or indoors-- cigarette users must leave the property.
420 only allowed indoors (outdoors is common property).
There are two non-negotiable requirements:
1) You must be a cat person, as there are 2 [indoor] cats who live here and they are top priority. These cats do not spend time outdoors unattended. If they show discomfort around a person, that person will not live here. Explaining your cat history will help you a lot.
2) This is a Covid Conscious home where masking from the front door of the building until you get into the apartment, or when you go to the laundry or the mail, is required. There are no exceptions to this.
Please indicate your understanding of these requirements before attempting to set up a viewing.
Your room opens up onto our private patio and garden; Your first views are of our rhododendron and trees.
In the winter, it is more barren like Vancouver itself. In the Spring, the trees outside the room are cherry blossoms and will dominate our private outdoor space. In the Summer, the rhododendrons are white and red.
The private area can be used for BBQ's and entertaining. We have an outdoor ground heater for the winter.
There is an iMac, a TV and an analog stereo in the rental room, and there are multiple streaming services that you can use free of charge (with internet).
The living room has a full entertainment unit.
Adjacent dining room, standard kitchen and hallway pantry. Dishwasher in kitchen.
The room for rent is furnished-- Adjustments are negotiable if necessary.
I am a 50 year old male, I currently am in the home most days. I am a social justice oriented writer and historical climate activist who just finished a long term helping elderly family.
I enjoy hockey during the hockey season, and I watch AEW. I am up early and usually in bed well before midnight.
This home is often filled with the sound of heavy metal, from Black Sabbath and Judas Priest through to Opeth and Meshuggah. If you are an old school nerd, there are RPG-style board games from the 1980's, along with multiple old school video game consoles (NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, etc).
This home will never tolerate bigots, including (but not limited to):
racists, misogynists, homo/transphobes and/or anti-immigrant sentiments. Islamophobia, anti-Arab discrimination and all forms of antisemitism will not be acceptable for those who wish to live here.
I have a strong aversion to:
Jordan Peterson followers, anti-vaxxers // anti-maskers, climate deniers and most strange conspiratorial thinking.
